Los Medanos College Statpath Project
Overview: This project created, implemented and studied an open-entry, one-semester accelerated course that prepares students for transfer-level Statistics, called Statpath.
Summary of findings: Students in the Statpath cohort were 3 to 7 times more likely to successfully complete transfer-level Statistics than students with comparable Accuplacer placement into the traditional developmental math sequence.
Impact: The success of this project provides proof of concept for Statpath and suggests that a shorter pipeline, in combination with preparatory work that is relevant to transfer-level Statistics, could significantly improve completion rates of transfer-level math for under-prepared non-STEM community college students.
